What our library patrons are reading this summer . . .

Book review by Renee K.
Slammerkin by Emma Donoghue

I enjoyed this book. The characters were interesting and well developed. The book takes places in London in the 1750’s. A young girl, Mary, becomes pregnant when raped by a street vendor. Her family throws her out of the house at the age of 13. She turns to a life of prostitution to survive.
