Sensory Friendly Storytime at the New Berlin Public Library

Have you heard about our newest weekly storytime? Sensory Friendly Storytime is designed to engage children through movement, music, stories, and play. It’s open to all children, and is especially geared to children on the autism spectrum, those with sensory integration challenges, or children who have difficulty sitting. If you have tried traditional storytimes in the past and left discouraged, or are just looking for something new to try, this may be just what you are looking for!

Who can attend?: Any child ages 2-7 years old can attend with a caregiver.

When is it?: Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m.—6:30 p.m. Please view our calendar or contact Youth Services at 262-754-1814 for current storytime dates.

No Registration Required: Registration is not required for this storytime, but space is limited to 15 children and adults. Please check in at the Youth Reference Desk upon arrival. Once we reach capacity we will no longer be able to let others in.

Before Storytime: The Youth Services Department at the New Berlin Public Library has developed a social story about visiting the library. The purpose of this book is to help pre-teach what the structure and routine of a library experience will be like and includes pictures from our building so children will know what to look for. View this story together with your child before attending Sensory Friendly Storytime to help prepare them for their visit to the library.
