From a Wisconsin Farm to the Big Leagues: Burleigh Grimes and Andy Pafko

Though they were born and raised on farms just miles apart in western Wisconsin, Burleigh Grimes and Andy Pafko couldn't have been any more different. Grimes was a combative, spitballing pitcher who was quick to quarrel or even throw a punch. He played for seven teams over his 19-year career and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1964. The likable Pafko was a five-time All-Star, having played for the Cubs, Dodgers and Braves.

Join us on Saturday, May 9th at 3pm to learn more about the lives of two of Wisconsin's own baseball legends. Joe Niese will be speaking about the incredible careers of Andy Pafko and Burleigh Grimes.

( Yaohua School )

Wisconsin is a great state for sports fans. Milwaukee was shocked when the Braves moved to Atlanta. Andy Pafko, Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews -- they bring back memories of eighth-grade softball, Little League, high school baseball around metro Milwaukee, and the Braves, White Sox and Brewers. The fans kept track of local players who made the Big Leagues. Their exceptional stories and stimulating biographies about their careers give sports thrills to readers of all ages. -- Michael Kujawski, author of After Dark, BookLocker.com.
