Ronald McDonald House - Oct. and Nov. Service Project

Ronald McDonald House CharitiesThis fall the New Berlin Public Library Youth Services department will be collecting non-perishable donations for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Eastern Wisconsin. The Ronald McDonald House has been open since 1984 and has provided more than 36,000 family stays. These families come from 569 Wisconsin communities, all 50 states, and many countries around the world whose children are receiving medical care at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin or other area hospitals. Last year they provided nearly 1,000 family stays. They offer a place to call home at little or no cost, so families can stay together. Many families try to contribute what they can—even if it’s the suggested $20 a night donation. In reality, the cost is $100 per night. No one is ever turned away for their inability to pay.

The library will be collecting non-perishable items and gift cards from the Ronald McDonald House wish list during the months of October and November. Donations can be brought to the Youth Services desk. We will also have a container out during our Halloween open house on Wednesday, October 28, from 3-5:00 pm.

A list of suggested donations and other needs can be found by clicking here and on their website:
