Hoopla Digital is an online media service that allows you to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, ebooks, comics and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet, or phone – and even your TV!

Setting Up the App

Download the Hoopla app from the App Store or Play Store, or visit hoopladigital.com on your computer.
Create an account. Use your email address and create a new password for your new Hoopla account.
Select the library where you received your library card. For example: New Berlin Public Library.
Enter your library card number (all of it, including the letters) and your 4-digit PIN.

Finding Materials

To browse for a new book, simply scroll down the home screen. Various lists such as trending titles, popular books, movies of the month, and more can be found here.
To look for a genre in a specific format, tap the tags at the top of the home screen. Then, scroll down to tap on a specific genre or collection, or browse featured lists in that format.
To search a specific author or title, tap the Search button (magnifying glass) at the bottom. You can narrow the results by tapping “Filter” at the top of your search results.

Borrowing Materials

Once you see an item you want to borrow, tap on the cover. Below the title, you will see a blue “Borrow” button. If you want to save it for later, tap the heart icon “Favorite” next to the borrow button. This will add the title to your favorites list.

Items in Hoopla are always available! There are no holds in Hoopla, so you never have to wait to read what you want!

You may check out up to 4 items per month. On the 1st of every month, your borrows will be replenished. Items you have checked out will still be checked out for the duration of its loan period (they do not disappear at the end of the month when you get new borrows).

FAQs

How do I read/watch/listen to an item I've checked out?

Your recently borrowed materials are available on the Home screen or the My Hoopla screen. Simply tap it to read, watch, or listen!

How do I find my Favorites (saved items)?

Tap on “My Hoopla” at the bottom of the screen. At the top, there are two options: Borrowed (currently and previously borrowed items) and Favorites. Tap Favorites to view your saved items.
