February is not only Library Lover's Month, but it's also the New Berlin Public Library's birthday month! Join us in celebrating love for our public libraries!
Library Lovers Challenge
To celebrate our birthday and Library Lovers Month, we want to put your public library love to the test! We have created a Library Lovers Month challenge, where patrons of all ages can complete activities around the library. You can also pick up special buttons and bookmarks to show how much you love the library!
How to Participate:
- From February 7-14, pick up a challenge card from the front desk and complete as many challenge boxes as you can.
- Library themed buttons and bookmarks are available for participants at the main circulation desk.
- Return your sheet to the chest located at the main circulation desk to enter the raffle contest by February 14.
Our grand prize winners will receive a gift certificate for our Merch Store!
Little Reading Buddies
Adopt a little reading buddy! At the front desk is a gumball machine, where each capsule is filled with a small resin axolotl (AKA your little reading buddy), a reading sticker, and a raffle ticket. Here's how it works:
- Adoption fee is 25 cents. Put a quarter in the machine and get your capsule! Please, one capsule per reader as supplies are limited.
- Keep the axolotl, reading sticker, and raffle ticket. Put the empty capsule back in the basket for us to reuse.
- Read to the axolotl all month long!
Check our Facebook page on February 28th, when we will announce the raffle winner!
Support the Library
There are many tangible ways to directly support the library as well! Here are just a few of those ways:
- Library Wishlist: Support your library in a simple, meaningful way! 📚 Our Amazon Wish List features items like craft supplies for the Makerstudio and storytime supplies. Patrons can purchase items directly, and donated items will be shared with the whole community. Thank you for helping our library grow!
- Library Merch: We've dropped 4 new designs in our merch store, just in time for Library Lover's Month! Shop all our collections at newberlinlibrary.org/merch, or choose to purchase from a limited supply in person at the front desk!
Library Donations: We are always accepting donations of books or other materials, as well as items for our MakerStudio. For specification on accepted items, please see our Donations page.
2026 Adult Reading Challenge
We love finding new books we love and we hope this year you can too! Sign up for our 2026 Adult Reading Challenge to push your boundaries as a reader and discover new books or authors you may not have chosen otherwise. As an added bonus, there's also drawings and prizes involved! Who knows? You might find a new love during your challenge!
